Every book in this series just keeps getting better and better!
This is the fourth book in the Elemental Assassin series and by now I am feeling pretty attached to Gin and the other characters in her world.
This time around Mab Monroe has hired Elektra LaFleur, an electric elemental to kill The Spider. Elektra is also going after Gin on the side as a favour, unknown that the two are the same person. Elektra gets a bit of a surprise when the truth comes out.
I feel like I should be having a total fan girl moment right now, I love Gin Blanco, she is my new favourite book character. With every book I feel a little bit more closer to her, gosh I wish she was real!
Gin is witty, quick thinking and funny. I love every word that comes out her mouth in this book. She has that kind of spark that a main character needs to keep your attention.
I'm listening to this series on audio, but I really think I need to buy the paperbacks soon, just to have them on my shelf!
Jennifer Estep's writing once again pulled me into Gin's exciting world of Ashland, full of gangsters, assassins and trouble lurking around every corner.
I don't want to delve to much into the plot as I don't want to spoil the series for anyone not caught up yet. Lets just say I'm really happy how this one ended. I finally feel like there was some closure on the family situation.
None of the books in this series have been a let down, and I've already started Spider's Revenge, the fifth book. I'm excited to see what is in store next for Gin.

I have a piece from Morgan Matson on her thoughts about writing about romance to share with you all!
One of my favorite parts of thinking about a new book is thinking about the romance aspect of it. How much it will figure into the story, who the boy will be, what the relationship will be like. Some readers have definitely wanted more romance in my books – especially in Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour. They wanted those two to get together sooner!
But one thing I really enjoy in writing romances is starting the two people far apart from each other (even if they’re, say, sitting next to each other in a car). I always have trouble believing in the insta-love relationship – where people fall for each other the second they see each other. I love writing the slow burn, where there are real obstacles to be overcome and where people get to know and appreciate things about the other person slowly. I just think it makes it more satisfying when they do finally get together! With Amy & Roger, it was fun to write two virtual strangers who become close by spending 24/7 together as they drive across America. I liked taking them from stranger to friends and then to have an attraction between them build until they finally kissed.
With Second Chance Summer, I was writing about Taylor and Henry. They had known each other when they were younger, and had been each other’s first relationship. Things didn’t go so well between them in the interim (five years pass) and so it was really fun to write two people who had a romantic history, who were not on good terms with each other…and then to slowly let them remember why they first liked each other, way back when. Because isn’t that something you always wonder about your first love? What would happen if I met them again, years later… Or maybe that’s just me!
I know what you mean Morgan, sometimes I find myself wondering and doing that what if thing as well.

It's fair to say that I have fell in love with all seven of the Drake brothers while reading this series. I really wish they were real and I could date a different one every day of the week!
This is the fifth book in the Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey, if you haven't read any of the series yet I highly recommend you start right now, cause these boys are hot!!
This time around the point of view switches from Lucy, Solange and Nicholas. I'm really glad we get to see things from Nicholas' point of view, I think secretly he is my favourite Drake boy. Don't let the rest of them know that though!!
After the major cliff hanger ending book four, Bleeding Hearts left us on I was desperate for this book! When Bloomsbury UK kindly offered me a review copy I actually squealed and jumped around my room a little. I was so excited about getting to read more about the characters I've grown to love and to find out what is in store for Lucy and Solange this time around!
I don't want to talk to much about the main plot in this book, as I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't caught up with the series yet. Let's just say there was a lot of unexpected twists that came out of nowhere!
I'm a fan of plot twists, and usually I can sense them coming, but I was completely taken by surprise with this book.
Alyxandra's writing and plotting just gets better and better with each book. I feel sometimes that a series with more that 4 books in it can feel a bit dragged out at times. I've never once thought that with any of the books in the Drake Chronicles. Alyxandra manages to weave this magical world she has created into your head and make you believe you are part of it.
It's so easy to get caught up in Lucy's world, believe me I've lost complete days to this series. Blood Moon is no exception, from page one I was hooked and could not put it down. The writing flows so well together and the plot is gripping and easy to follow.
Oh my gosh, the ending!! What can I say really?
I thought we would be left on some kind of cliff-hanger like with Bleeding Hearts, but it's so much worse! I actually screamed a little inside when I got to the last page, I didn't want the book to end, I wanted it to keep going.
I need to know what is going on with these characters, and what is going to happen now, especially with Solange! This wait for the next book is going to be agony, but it's the Drake boys so they are worth the wait!!

So May was a busy wee month for me work wise, I've just upped my hours at work and am now doing full time. It's tough, but to be honest I need the money. I actually really enjoy my job but the hours suck, I work 7am-4pm. Which means getting up at 5am :( And I'm usually in my bed for 9pm at night, which doesn't give me much time to read as much as I used to.
So onto May's books, during the month I managed to get through:
13 books, which looking at them now, doesn't seem too bad actually.
I also read some short stories in the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep, I'm loving that series more and more every day!
My favourite book of May has to be Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson, that book had me sobbing like a baby by the end! I'm not the biggest fan of YA contemporary but it is one of the most moving books I've read all year so far.
