Review: Numbers - Rachel Ward
4/5
From the minute I opened this book I was hooked! It is written really well and I just could not put it down!
The story centres around Jem who has been in the care system in and around London from the age of 7 when her mother died of a drug overdose. That was the day she realised that the numbers that she's always seen is not normal and no one else sees them. Not only that she discovers what they mean, they are the date of death of the person she is looking at.
After becoming friends with Spider, one of the boys in her class at school. They both skip school and spend the day in London, and while waiting in the queue for the London eye Jem notices that everyone in line has the same date of death, today's date!
After the events at the London eye Jem and Spider are on the run from the police and are suspected terrorists! They become closer on their journey and Jem struggles with herself wondering if she should tell Spider the truth about her ability, and also is date of death which is becoming ever closer!
The ending of the book was pretty obvious and I could tell what was going to happen a mile off, really looking forward to the next book in the series though!
