Review: Storm Born - Richelle Mead

5/5

To start with, I'm going to hold my hands up...I may be a bit bias when it comes to this review, as I absolutely love Richelle Mead's writing.

So with that disclaimer in place, lets get on to the real review...

This is the first book in the Dark Swan series, which I have to point out is a Adult book so of course there is going to be more sex, swearing and generally more graphic details than was in her YA series, Vampire Academy.

The story centres around Eugeine Markham, a powerful shaman who has been banishing demons, ghosts and all types of otherworldly creatures from our world since she was a teen. Nowadays, she charges for it. We've all got make a living some way, right?!

As the story unfolds Eugeine discovers that she is the child of rape, not only that but her real father was the Strom King, once the most feared and powerful rulers of one of the lands in the otherworld. This of course comes with a prophecy that the first grandchild of Storm King will bridge the gap between the two worlds and allow all types of creatures to cross over and live in the mortal world.

Tie this in with a couple of potential love interests, trying to live a regular life as well as earn money from banishing ghosts and you have a recipe for success!

Trying not to give too much away which is really difficult as there is just so much in this book to talk about! I really loved this book, Richelle Mead is able to paint a picture of the world around Eugeine (whichever one she happens to be in at the time!) and make the reader genuinely care about the characters.
