The Ocean Blog Tour

I am so excited to be taking part in this Blog Tour today!

The Ocean by Mia Castile is a YA novel about love, loss and relationships.

As part of the blog tour, I am posting my review of The Ocean today. I've been keeping this review under lock and key for the past few days and it has been killing me, as I just wanted to share it!
But finally it's here:

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.
I completely loved this book and could not put it down at all!

The Ocean follows Gianna as she and her brother move into their father's home and start to build a new life after the recent death of their mother. Gianna not only faces living in a new home and going to a new school, but also the prospect of having to make new friends and a potential new relationship. At the same time she is torn between wanting to feel happy again and feeling guilty that she should still feel sorrow after losing her mother such a short time ago. Gianna struggles to find a balance between these two emotions throughout the book.

I'll be honest with you here, this book had me crying my eyes out at places! It is such an emotional and truly moving story.

The characters are very well developed and as a reader I formed a bond with them almost instantly. At times I felt myself just what Gianna must have been feeling at the time.
I had to think to myself, come on Emma these are book characters not real people!
The book is written so well that the story could almost have been happening all around while I was reading it!

The writing in the book is simple and straight to the point. I enjoyed this as it made the story itself easier to grasp and got the main points easily across the reader.

I would highly recommend this book, it is such a great story!

Massive Thank You to the author, Mia Castile for giving me a review copy of The Ocean, and also for agreeing to my Blog Tour Idea!
This is the first Blog Tour I have helped to organise, and I am just so excited about it all. It's really great to see everything come together!
